U.S. Route 60, as this map shows, separates South Tempe from the northern section of Tempe in the East Valley of metropolitan Phoenix. The southern part of the city is bounded east by northeast Chandler off the Arizona State Route 101. South of Tempe sits northwest Chandler as delineated in Warmer Road, while its west is bounded by Ahwatukee defined in a stretch of Interstate 10 or Maricopa Freeway.
With its connection to several major road corridors and freeways, south Tempe has established a large population base. Its proportionate share in propelling the entire city of Tempe to the No. 8 largest in Arizona could be seen in the myriads of communities and neighborhoods.
Confining a home search to gated south Tempe communities could already yield an array of choices in such developments as Alisanos, Coventry Tempe, Legends at Tempe, and Tempe Village. For smaller residences, a home hunt could focus on neighborhoods like Dava-Lakeshore where listings of single detached residences typically start with two-bedroom residences with floor plans of about 1,000 square feet.
Alternatives on condo can likewise be explored at the Cottonwoods of Tempe where typical units on the market have living areas of around 2,400 square feet with three-bedroom layouts.
Shifting to high-end single-family home listings, Warner Estates would be one great destination with the available residences here having floor plans of up to approximately 11,400 square feet designed with five bedrooms and six baths.
Amenities: Residents have plenty of choices for shopping and dining, such as those at the Lake Country Village Shopping Center, Tempe Square Shopping Center, Pablo Anozira Shopping Center, and the Royal Palm Plaza. Arizona Mills is only a short drive away. Additionally, local business parks, such as the Carleton Business Park, provide economic opportunities in south Tempe
Activity hubs include the Ken McDonald Golf Course, Tempe Sports Complex, and the Benedict Sports Complex. The southern part of Tempe is also home to Kiwanis Park and the Desert Breeze Park, both with lake features.
Schools: There is a rich mix of public and private schools serving south Temple too. Among the institutions of learning based in this part of the city include Aguilar Elementary, Kyrene Middle School, Marcos de Niza High, Compadre High, Rover Elementary, and Corona del Sol High.
